The Joel Tendler Quantum Responsibility Scholarship
Proudly sponsored by EeroQ, The Joel Tendler Quantum Responsibility Scholarship offers an exciting opportunity for students passionate about quantum technologies to reflect on the ethical implications of this evolving field. This scholarship aims to inspire thoughtful discourse on the future of quantum ethics.
Open to all undergraduate and graduate students studying quantum technologies.
The winner, determined by a panel of expert reviewers, will receive a $5,000 prize, with the freedom to use the funds in any way that supports their academic journey. Essays will be graded on a scale from 1 to 10, the applicant with the highest score will be awarded the scholarship.

Compose a two page essay on the topic of how the world can work together to create a framework for responsible use of the immense future power of quantum computing.

The essay remains the full property of the writer, and regardless of the result of the competition, the student is free to use or publish it in any way they would like. EeroQ or QC Ethics holds no ownership or restrictions over the essays.
While this scholarship is not restricted to U.S. students, depending on the country, it is sometimes not possible to legally or easily transfer money to personal accounts abroad. If the highest rated essay is written by someone outside of the U.S. we will do everything we can to transfer the funds, but cannot guarantee it will be possible to make the award.
Joel Tendler was a leading expert in computational science and quantum computing, with a strong background in physics. He significantly advanced the development of practical quantum algorithms and explored their impacts on industries such as cryptography and pharmaceuticals. Additionally, he was one of EeroQ’s first investors. As a thought leader, Tendler participated in global forums to advocate for the ethical and responsible use of quantum technologies. Through his research, publications, and collaborations, he aimed to maximize the benefits of quantum computing while addressing its ethical and societal implications. Joel Tendler sadly passed away recently, prompting the dedication of this scholarship to his legacy.
